Pure Joy!

This picture says it all…There is nothing like watching the joy of a child enjoying the simple things in life…like chocolate ice cream.

How often do I allow things to come in and take and steal away my joy?…stress, worry, money, etc. We can find momentarily joy in things but finding pure joy only comes from God. We can have joy in everything with God. All we need to do is to go to Him. The amazing thing is God rejoices in us when we come to Him just as He rejoices in seeing us enjoy the simple pleasures in life like chocolate ice cream..

Psalm 5:11
But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.

It’s A New Season!

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Eccl. 3:1

I was reading a devotional that mentioned this scripture and it struck me with the current season that I am in. God is the source of all life and He makes everything perfect in its season. I have thought of how certain fruits and vegetables ripen in different seasons. For instance, strawberries are in season in April and May. Similarly in our lives, we go through seasons of maturity where we ripen to what God has called us to do and be. Often times this growth comes out of a time of difficulty and sometimes it comes out of a blessing. Either way, God is faithful to make everything perfect in its season. He causes all things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes for them. (Rom. 8:28)

What struck me about what Solomon says is that “there is a time” meaning that there is a beginning and an end. A comfort to know when we go through difficult seasons. I know that when we go through difficult seasons, it seems like this time is forever and is moving at a snail pace. However, it says in Psalm 102:11 that “life passes as swiftly as the evening shadows.” In the scripture above Solomon also says “everything” which reveals that God is not surprised, He has seen all that has happened, is happening and will happen. There is no circumstance that He is not aware of and can bring His loving hand to restore and fix.

The key to fully maturing and ripening in any season is to turn to God. We need to determine, accept and value in our hearts God’s perfect timing. When we doubt His timing, we move ahead of God without Him. We should strive to know and love God. He is the giver of wisdom, knowledge and true joy! Every moment and every season is an opportunity to turn back to God to guide us and to continue to mature us into our new season where we will bear much fruit for the Kingdom!

Happy Mother’s Day!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I am so thankful for Lisa who brought these 2 wonderful kids into this world and for the privilege to be a part of their lives for these past 3 1/2 years as their nanny! These kids have taught me so much on what it is like to be a mom except I don’t get the sleepless nights!! I would not trade my time with them for the world! It has been truly amazing to see them grow up before my eyes! I love them so much!!

Because of them, I have more of a deep respect for mothers who day in and day out love unconditional and make so much sacrifices for their children!!

I can’t believe how time flies and to think that I started watching this little guy when he was 6 months old. Here is Ty then and now at 3 1/2.

And then 2 years later came along his little sister Taylor who is now 20 months old and such a cutey pie.. .

Valentine’s Day Adventures

I can’t believe that we are already in February! Where has all the time gone!!?? For Valentine’s Day, a bunch of us decided to take a rode trip up to LA to have dinner at Roscoe’s – famous for their chicken and waffles and good soul food! Then off to City Walk at Universal Studios and capped the night off at Diddy Riese in Westwood. Got home super late and was super tired the next day but all worth it for the fun memories!!

Here is a video of how we entertained ourselves in LA traffic heading up to Roscoe’s.

Such fun memories and great laughs!!

2010 – A Fresh Start to a Decade of Destiny

It has been awhile since I have last posted a blog and not to make any excuses…I have been quite the busy girl but that is nothing new. I have always seen my life as a journey and at times a roller coaster (thank goodness I love roller coasters) but I am so blessed to be on the journey with the God Almighty!

Reflecting on 2009, I must say that it was a year of being stretched beyond my comfort zone. I have seen God move in amazing ways in my family and in my friendships and even in my personal walk with Him. God has brought key people in my life to build me up and I am continuing to rely more on God’s grace as there were many times, I knew that in my own strength I could do nothing.

Going into 2010, I am looking forward to God moving in greater ways for He is a great God who far surpasses my understanding. Already in 2010, I was able to go on a wonderful cruise with friends to the Mexican Rivera. I had a wonderful time basking in the warm sunshine, going horseback riding in the jungle, snorkeling and eating lots of food (which you do on a cruise).

And coming back from that to life with all its challenges. Whoever says it doesn’t rain in Southern California is a liar because coming back to San Diego we experienced 4 straight days of downpouring rain. Not drizzle but RAIN!! Being back in San Diego for just a week, I have had my fair share of challenges already. First off, adjusting to the drastic change in climate has contributed to me catching a small cold. On top of that, due to all the rain we have experienced, there is a leak in my ceiling. Currently, my living room is covered in plastic and I have three fans going and a dehumidifier to dry out the walls. It literally looks like a tornado hit it and sounds like one too! Thankfully, I have insurance and everything is covered but it certainly not something you want to happen. Despite the challenges, I know that I am moving in the right direction because I know who is the author of the challenges and that is the devil. However, my faith and trust is in God who faithfully takes care of me and watches over me.

Right now my journey has a few potholes in it and I know that with God, I can navigate through these and begin to move toward to all that God has for me. I believe that God is going to do great things this year and I believe that God is beginning to unfold the dreams and desires that we have been believing for to pass this year! So get ready!!

Glory to Glory, Strength to Strength

It is amazing to think how 10 years flies by!! Yesterday, I celebrated my 10th spiritual birthday! I remember that day like it was yesterday. Standing up to receive Jesus in my heart at a campus bible study and listening to a message that spoke so deep into my heart that I could not help to see that God is real and that He was waiting for me to give my affections to Him instead of what the world could offer me, which was nothing but pain.

Reflecting on my walk with Jesus, I am overwhelmed by His continuous love and faithfulness in my life! Lord knows I am a knucklehead at times!! I am so thankful! I shudder at the thought of the person I would be without Him. These 10 years I have grown through some things and have been blessed beyond words! I know that there is still a lot for me to grow through and revelations for me to see. That is what I love so much about God, that I can never know Him enough and as I grow deeper in my relationship with Him. My love for Him grows so much deeper yet His love for me has always remained the same. But His love is nothing I can comprehend and even understand! It blows my mind!!

I woke up fairly early that morning and God had led me to Psalm 84:10-12

Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

12 O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.

I would not trade one day without God for anything because in my very worst days, I still have hope and I know that God is with me and will never ever forsake me. I look forward to all that God has for me and I know that it is nothing but the best because as His daughter, “the Lord will bestow favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk is blameless.” Let my trust always be in You!! LOVE YOU JESUS!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Today is America’s birthday!! Happy Birthday America! Thank you to all the men and women who served in the Armed Forces who daily make the sacrifice to lay down their lives for our freedom!! I am so blessed and thankful to be an American! As I enjoy good food and fellowship with friends, I will remember that our fine country was founded on Biblical principles. I pray today that we remember that and intercede that we come back to Him. God Bless America!!
