Where’s That Smell Coming From??!!

Well, it is official…it is the season where kids are getting sick. Ty and Taylor of course are no different. Over Thanksgiving, Ty was sick and in fact was throwing up all night on Thanksgiving. I got a text message from Lisa, his mom, and I felt so bad for him. That really stinks! Anyway, the good news is that Ty is better.

Today, I was at work early to watch Ty and Taylor. I walked in to see Ty and he looked good, watching Elmo but still had a running nose. No big deal. His little sister Taylor got what Ty had and had just thrown up right when I got there. I was bracing myself to deal with a vomiting and sick 4-month old. The good news is that Taylor is such a great baby and eventhough she was sick. She rarely fusses.

I was expecting for her to be throwing up all day and she didn’t thankfully. She spit up a little but nothing like the projectile that was coming out this morning with her parents. Lisa was occasionally checking in to see how the kids were doing and everything was fine. Just when I sent that text message, of course something has to happen.

Taylor woke up from her nap and it was time for me to feed her. She was taking her bottle when all of sudden a loud explosive noise came out of her bottom, then another and immediately I knew that we were going to have a problem….DIARRHEA!!!. Her bottom was starting to feel damp and I immediately ran her up the stairs and into the sink. It was all over her up the front of her and up her back. Not good!! I quickly turned on the water and proceeded to hose her off and once I got her clean, I gave her a bath. Ty was such a sweetheart and such a great helper as I asked him to give me a towel for his sister and he did. Taylor was finally all cleaned up and fresh. So I went downstairs and tried feeding her again. As she was eating, I thought that she may of had another accident because I kept smelling a foul odor. I thought that I may have not cleaned her up completely. I checked and everything was fine. Still that odor was still lingering. I put her down in her swing and realized that that foul odor was coming from me!! She had left her mark on my jeans! I quickly found a pair of sweatpants from Lisa’s closet and put them on.

I often wondered which is worse throw up or diarrhea and I would have to say both are bad and even worse when it gets on you! I am certainly getting trained up for being a mom!! Antibacterial soap and hand sanitizers are my friends!!! If I could deal with that, I can pretty much deal with anything!!

Ty Bones

It is almost like tradition now that I get to see Ty in his costume on Halloween. Unfortunately, Taylor was too tired to partake in all the festivities. Ty was so cute in his bones costume. It was quite fitting for him since his nickname is Ty Bones. It came from when he was in the NICU for the first few months of his life. Above his crib, he had a dog with his name on a bone around his neck and it just stuck. Lisa, his mom tried to get him in several costumes with no avail. I was surprised that she was able to paint his face, she told him it was sunscreen…it worked!!! He had a godzilla costume which was so cute but he would not step within 5 feet of that costume. He is definitely growing up before my eyes and I can’t believe that it has been almost 2 years since I started watching him. Time has sure flown by!!

Such A Little Ham

Last weekend Ty and his little sister Taylor were dedicated to the Lord and I was able to join the family for brunch to celebrate! I really wanted to get a picture of both Ty and Taylor but Ty is still in denial that he has a little sister. 🙂 Ty is such a ham and changing daily with new vocabulary.

Occupational Hazards of Being a Nanny

One of the job hazards of being a nanny is that you open up yourself to catching whatever the kids get. Well, the kids that I watch have been sick over the past week and so far I have not gotten what they have had until now. If I had a choice of being sick, I wouldn’t choose the stomach flu on my worst enemy. These last 24 hours were one of the roughest 24 hours of my life. On Wednesday evening, I went to bed early to get some much needed rest and woke up at 2am in the morning to an overwhelming feeling of nausea and the rest was history…From that point on I spent every hour and sometimes half hour in the bathroom vomiting my guts out. I think that it finally ended at around 6am. From that point on, I was too weak to even get out of bed. I spent the last 24 hours in bed sleeping, drinking gatorade and eating saltine crackers and praying that I would not get sick again!

Today, I feel so much better and I am starting to eat a little more. Thankfully, this only lasted 24 hours and God was with me every moment as I was praying for Him to make it stop. For those of you praying for me. Thank you!!!! I am truly blessed to have such great friends who were praying, have brought me soup and have offered to bring me things. For that, I am so grateful!!!

Baby Taylor

Today, I have a new baby in my life. For those who do not know. I am a nanny to an amazing little boy named Ty and today, he became a big brother. His sister, Taylor was born this morning at 7:41am, 8lbs, 2oz, 19in long.

I am so excited and thankful that she and her mom, Lisa are healthy and good. I can’t wait to meet her in person tomorrow!
